Servette Rugby Geneva is delighted to announce a partnership with the Durban Cell C Sharks which will aim to develop rugby in Switzerland and our respective communities.

Born in the same year (1890), the two rugby clubs are keen to write a common history.

With the Cell C Sharks now playing in the northern hemisphere, this partnership will allow the South Africans to use Geneva as a base camp to prepare for matches played in Europe. The entire Grenat Group is delighted to welcome the Sharks into its structures. The South Africans are also planning to develop a joint Academy, which will allow our youngsters to experience new things.

Alain Studer, President of Servette Rugby Geneva: "With the objective we set ourselves at the beginning of the Servette Rugby Geneva development project, this partnership with the Sharks is a logical continuation of the mission we have defined: to promote rugby in the Geneva region.

"This intercontinental relationship with the Cell C Sharks should be an accelerator and an example in terms of social integration through the diversity they represent. We hope to perpetuate the educational programme of our young players through the practice of rugby and foster a spirit of solidarity."

Commenting on this partnership The Sharks CEO, Dr. Eduard Coetzee said: “As a global brand, partnering with Servette Rugby Geneve is very much in line with The Sharks’ objective and focus on taking our brand to the world”.

“We continually strive to identify social responsibility initiatives that we as a brand are committed too and this partnership will create bi-lateral cooperation that will be focussed on the upliftment and growth of not just rugby in both our regions, but in many other focus areas.”

This partnership with Servette Rugby Geneve will be facilitated by Team One Conseil, who is helping developing the Cell C Sharks brand in France and Switzerland and has been mandated to support both parties in the structuring of this partnership.

Philippe Spanghero, Associate Director at Team One Conseil: “We are extremely happy to be involved in the structuring and effective execution of the various elements linked to this partnership. All parties are aligned in terms of a shared vision for this partnership moving forward and creating a commercial model that is mutually beneficial.”
